TIME TO PICNIC

BY SKIN FOOTWEAR

Picnics and Summertime go hand in hand. Whether it's a concert on the grass, Shakespeare under the stars, a long hike in the mountains, a stroll along the beach or just a beautiful summer weekend at a neighborhood park, packing a picnic for your adventure, is always a good idea.

Your next outdoor soiree can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. Spur of the moment sandwiches on the lawn are as enjoyable as a well planned feast. The ideal picnic is nothing more than choosing a great location, inviting a good group of people, bringing something comfortable to sit on and of course wearing the perfect outfit!

If you are going the simple route, grab a blanket and pack some easy to eat finger foods. Soft cheeses, cured meats and bread are delicious and easy to transport. Throw in a bottle opener with a nice bottle of wine of course and you have a perfect Summer afternoon.

If you are planning something larger or more elaborate, approach the planning as you would plan a small party. Start with the essential picnic supplies: a blanket, picnic basket, cooler, bottle opener, portable speaker, tablewear and napkins. Don't forget a patterned tablecloth and wooden boards to use as your "table." Choose dishes that travel well, can be made mostly in advance and are served at room temperature. Cold sandwiches, chilled salads and icy beverages really hit the spot on warm days! As we come into picnic season (or for us Melbournians it’s been our go-to activity for the past few weeks), it’s time to shed our matching tracksuit sets that have become our daily uniform and opt for brighter, more happier combos.

To make outfit planning easier, we’ve pulled together our favourite looks for your next outdoor get together, whatever the occasion.

This luxe picnic outfit is perfect for those glam outdoor celebrations. Think your BFF’s birthday, engagement or even a promotion party. Party into the night and throw on an oversized blazer for when the temperature drops.

If you live in the city, the closest you can get to nature is the Botanical Gardens. A denim skirt and a pair of stappy sandals will have you onyour way to being the Finska champion. Don’t forget to pack a durable tote and a chilled bottle of Prosseco.

Beaches can be some of the most scenic places to picnic, but be prepared with an umbrella and a large picnic rug to keep the sand away or opt for a grassy spot on a nearby hill. Dresses that float in the breeze and raffia wedges ooze romantic vibes.
